LALA LAND: THE SUN ROSE

Hollywood, of all places, should’ve know better.  To induce certain behaviors, one must set the stage or design for it. For the past century, the stage has been set for the privileged car users, and it is failing miserably.

The energy is all whacked out here in LALAND.  There’s palpable tensions and hostilities in the air that permeate and ripple throughout the city. Everyone’s aimlessly driving everywhere, and to nowhere while complaining about the very problems they’ve caused.

Those without a garage can’t go anywhere without losing their parking spot on the streets.  People who can no longer drive, or unable to are left to rot wandering like zombies.  This is no way to design a properly functioning city.

Not only humans, but plants and animals are dying as we continued to feed the car monster.  Car centric infrastructure is gross and disgusting, and it is definitely not humane. It is literally draining our life forces, and little is being done to change it.

Los Angeles or Tinsel Town has the potential to blossom like a rose into the most livable city in the world.  It diminishes and degrades itself when it decided to go with the car centric route. What is the point of being one of the richest city or country in the world when everyone around you are sick, and miserable?

It’s called LALAND or Crazyland for a reason.  The people are too dense and insane to realize that their city is designed wrong. If we have to drive everywhere, then the city is noninclusive and inaccessible to all but the privileged car users. The car is the most inefficient, dangerous, expensive, and polluting mode of transportations. It should not be the default mode.

We live in a low trust, low desire society by demonic car centric design.  First step is awareness, next step is actions.  We just need the right political willpower to change the status quo.  We can reverse the course, and collectively redesign our cities for the people instead of machines—or we can continued to circle the drain.
